What is the ETN?

The ETN aims to provide a forum for exchange of information and co-ordination of NGO advocacy and campaigns on trade issues. The ETN is a follow-up and replacement of the former 'CENNT' and aims to bring together the ever-growing group of European NGOs working on trade. The ETN will allow for discussions on development, social, environment, human rights and other concerns relating to trade.

Part of this first meeting will focus on the ETN's draft Terms of Reference & Mission Statement and proposed structure. The remaining three sessions will focus on the role of the C-133 and the EP in trade policy making (session 2), information exchange on the three UN conferences this year and the upcoming EU-ACP trade negotiations (session 3), and finally on the state of play of WTO negotiations in Geneva (session 4).

The meeting will be held at the offices of 11.11.11, rue de la Liniere 11, B-1060 in Brussels. Working language will be English. A participation fee of Euro 7.5 covers a sandwich lunch, tea and coffee. Funding for travel for participants from EU member states is unfortunately not available. However, the ETN meeting will be held alongside a series of civil society dialogue meetings organised by the European Commission's DG for Trade. As the EC is providing financial support for a limited number of NGO participants in their civil society dialogue meetings, NGOs may consider combining part of these meetings with attending the ETN meeting.
